Schnell,
My mom texted me, asked where I'll be "when we are persecuted". I told her, "Probably bringing my mom and brother food and stuff until you decide it's okay to come out."
That's a good one schnell.
i was introduced to the jw religion at the age of 7. i can't recall when i was taught about having to suffer persecution in the so-called last days, but i do remember thinking that i would crumble under pressure.. as i entered my young adult years, i imagined how governments would persecute us.
i had thoughts of being tortured for information and then how i would say anything to the torturer just to stop the pain and then be labeled a modern-day judas, missing out on everlasting life.. the jw way of life and expectations are both scary and unrealistic.. i am glad i have canceled armageddon.
also, if i should ever be tortured for some belief or principle, i shall remain strong until the end.

James Mixon,
Not me but my kids had nightmares.
Kind of makes me wonder how many children saw that video on JW.org which showed the jack-booted UN police approach them with a small child amongst the adults. The music rose to a crescendo but the final action left out to increase the suspense.
What would be going through the imagination of the child watching that video? Were those UN police about to kill any of the Witnesses?
Even more subtle things like the illustration of a girl with a scared look on her face in a meeting being held in a basement. Children can pick up on that sort of thing.

It's amusing how the Witnesses believe that Armageddon is around the corner but they leave out the Great Tribulation which is supposed to be when they're tortured.
just wondering about that as i was watching the news tonight with lester holt, the weatherperson was dylan dryer i believe her name is, who is also on the today show, she was wearing what pregnant women have been wearing for more than ten years now which is the formfitting style of maternity dress.
just wondering if the sisters in the hall are doing the same thing, because back in the day the old elderettes and female pioneers would have an earful to say about a pregnant women who doesn't wear the appropriate maternity wear, showing off that big belly and so on.
btw, i don't care for that style on pregnant women at all, too revealing to me, i don't have kids but couldn't imagine showing off a 30lb belly like that, seems a bit inappropriate to me, imho i guess i should add here..
I fantasize at the sight of a pregnant woman.
i saw this news scrolling at the bottom of the television screen this morning.
i looked it up.
not much of a story, but it certainly has the ring of truth to it.
"Prince wanted Obama to ban birthdays and Christmas, according to his buddy Van Jones"
Huh?
i feel like everything that comes out of my mothers mouth is something negative and cringe worthy.
all she seems to talk about with me is how terrible and demonic our disfellowshipped relatives are, how horrible the world and holidays are, or how she is so much better and "holier than thou".
it really makes me sick sometimes.
What kind of jobs have you looked for? You might want to try bagging groceries. Can you drive and if so do you have a car? It would help to set up goals for yourself.
i wish i had read this back when i was 18. it's an amazing take down of religious beliefs, the bible, and religion in general.
) a "reason"-able manner.take this quote, from near the beginning:.
when also i am told that a woman, called the virgin mary, said, or gave out, that she was with child without any cohabitation with a man, and that her betrothed husband, joseph, said that an angel told him so, i have a right to believe them or not: such a circumstance required a much stronger evidence than their bare word for it: but we have not even this; for neither joseph nor mary wrote any such matter themselves.
Here are some more gems from The Age Of Reason:
This knowledge is of divine origin; and it is from the Bible of the creation that man has learned it, and not from the stupid Bible of the church, that teaches man nothing.
*The Bible-makers have undertaken to give us, in the first chapter of Genesis, an account of the creation; and in doing this they have demonstrated nothing but their ignorance…
And-
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel.
"of course not- we want to eat from clean dishes!
dishes that have been cleaned thoroughly inside and out.
" we have to be sure the things entering our minds are clean... rejecting exciting fun stuff that features sex.
I didn't know that dishes had an "inside" that could be washed.
"a believer" seems to be our new apologist/disobedient sheep.
"a believer" ignores the "spirit-directed"/"bible-based" commands of the gb/fds!
shame on you, "a believer"!!!!
2+2=5, can you be a little more clear?

A Believer,
From where do you guys get that I shouldn't be here?
First, you've been told in no uncertain terms why you shouldn't be here if you are a faithful Witness.
Second, you should know without having to be told.
It's your organization that will disfellowship you for that. I've known people getting disfellowshipped for reading Crisis of Conscience.
